It's Never Too Late
June 3 - 13, 1999
The fourth and final show of the 1998-99 season is Summer Arthur Long's rollicking old-fashioned domestic farce, Never Too Late. The story revolves around harry Lambert (played by Brad Collins), the middle-aged brash and opinionated owner of the largest lumber yard in town; his wife Edith (Francie Dix), and old-fashioned girl who has always responed to Harry's every whim and has made a career out of making their home a comfy nest; their daughter, Kate (Kelley Martinson), married, but still living at home (because how could she ever manage, without  mom, to cook and clean?); and Kate's husband Charlie (Joey Adams), who works in Harry's business, eats at Harry's table, and is generally hte thorn in Harry's side. When Harry finds out he is going to be a father again, his stable, Harry-oriented world begins to whirl out of his control, and the hilarity is non-stop. Directed by Karen Stevens with assistance from Pidge Smith, this show promises that this best-ever season will end with a bang! The cast is rounded out by Bob Turnbaugh, Sharon Penny, Dick Duggan, Gil Wulfson and Gina Zarzano.

PATRON NEWS
**Sylvia
was yet another wonderful success for HCCT. Director GiGi Fischer has truly outdone herself with this one. From the wonderful cast to the beautiful set to the marvelous sound and lighting effects, the production was first rate all the way! **The recipients of the HCCT Scholarships to local graduating high school seniors who plan to attend college to pursue a career in theatre-related studies have been selected. From Marble Falls High School, the recipient is Curtis Ashby, who designed the set of Little Shop of Horrors; from Burnet High School, the recipient is Brad Herridge, who played the Mute in The Fantasticks, and also performed in last summer's 4th of July Melodrama; and from Llano High School, the recipient is Tiffany Hallmark. Our congradulations to these young people! ** Watch your mailboxes for information about the upcoming Patron's Annual Meeting, scheduled for Monday, June 7 at the theatre. This is the meeting at which Patron members will elect new board members. This is your chance to voice your opinions and your choices. Although attendance has been sliding the past few years, we are hoping to have a big turnout this year. ** Our Volunteer Picnic was great fun this year, and very well attended. Once again, it is the many volunteers that keep this theatre going. I hope all of you know how appreciated you all are! ** Plans are underway fpr a busier-than-usual summer at HCCT. We are trying to reinstitute a children's theatre program for the summer, in addition to our 4th of July Melodrama at Quail Point. If you have or know any children who would be interested in the theatre, please give Barbara a call at the theatre (693-2474). ** Our play schedule for next year is currently being nailed down. So far, the lineup is: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum directed by Dick Reiss in the November slot; The Sunshine Boys directed by Michael Gregoric in the February slot; Do No Go Gentle directed by Barbara George-Reiss in the April slot. The June slot is as yet undecided, but Pidge Smith has been selected as director.

Photo Contest Winner:
The involvement of the Hill Country Humane Society with our last production Sylvia, was a great success all around. Not only did the HCHS/SPCA make a little money for a good cause, they also provided a wonderful exhibit and lots of fun for theatre goers. The most popular feature in the lobby was the Pet Photo Contest. With well over 50 entries, we were all treated to photos of some pretty adorable pets. The winner of the contest was 'Funny Girl', owned by Fay Paske. You'll remember 'Funny Girl' as the poodle saying "hi" to the deer, nose to nose through a fence. There was a tie for first runner-up: 'Poppy' Goodwillie, a yellow lab in the bluebonnets, and 'Got Milk', picturing a dachshund owned by  Nancy Schaefer. And of course, all the others won honorable mention!

Notice To All Patrons
The Nominating Committee appointed by the HCCT Board of Directors presents the following slate of candidates to fill three places on the Board:

GiGi Fischer
Will Howard
Woody McCasland

The Committee also recommends that the 1999/2000 President be:

Claudia Bird

These recommendations will be voted on at the Annual Meeting to be held June 7.

From the President...

This being the last newsletter of my tenure as President of HCCT, I want to thank everyone who supported the theatre this last year. I encourage every patron to attend the annual meeting on June 7. To ensure positive progression and innovation for the future of HCCT, we need your input. If your only participation has been attendance of a performance, that alone qualifies your opinion.

Thank you all, and I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

              -Sharon Rossberg

Notes
- HCCT was the recipient of a wonderful donation from Brinkman Security of a security system for the theatre. They have also donated the maintenance and operating costs of the system, so the theatre is fully protected at absolutely no cost to us. Thanks so much to Patty and David Brinkman.
- Also, newcomers Gil and Inger Lisa Blount donated a wonderful sofa and loveseat to the therater, which we have set up in the lobby to make pre-show and intermission visiting much more comfortable.
- HCCT was also the recipient of a $100 matching grant check from the SBC Foundation in the name of Ted Winder. Thanks for remembering the theatre!
- A few of our patrons have come up with suggestions for play titles for consideration. This is a great help, and we'd still like to know the titles of any play you may see that you think would be well received at HCCT.

We also want to let all of our readers know that the theatre is available for rental, and makes a great space for parties and meetings of all sorts.  So if your company or group is planning a raffle, a large meeting, or a holiday party, give us a call (693-2474).

In Memoriam: Tex Bevil, long-time and valued volunteer at HCCT, passed away  on April 3rd. Tex worked onstage and behind the scenes for innumerable productions, and his presence will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to his wife Betty, and the family in their personal loss.

This season we are adding Wednesday night performances on the second (& third, in case of a musical) week's run, so that the first week will be Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 2:30pm; Each subsequent week being Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 2:30.

We hope to see you there!
